Alan Alan has been like a second Dad to me and will always be in my heart. One of my many memories was of Alan sitting in his favourite spot on the sofa watching sports. He did not mind what kind of sport, I guess that’s what you call a genuine sports enthusiast. I will remember his jokes as well as his practical jokes like pinching my leg and blaming Milly “Poor dog!” I had the pleasure of going on holiday with the Hawkins’s and Gill’s where Alan taught me how to do Sudoku and had great enjoyment in tickling my leg with straw and watching me flinch when I swatted it off. He was a down to earth straight talking guy. Who didn’t mind speaking up and putting people in their place, especially me! I will MISS you and promise to look after Kate and rose. Nick
